Designer Profile

Carolyn is the designer behind The Purple Poncho, a blog she started in 2013 to share her love of crochet. Taught by her Grandma Mary at a young age, she grew up surrounded by crafts—crochet, macramé, knitting, beading, sewing, and more.

When her kids left home, crochet became her focus. She began by selling finished items at boutiques before moving into pattern design, where she found her passion.

Carolyn holds the CGOA Master of Advanced Stitches & Techniques certification and continues to grow her skills by learning from others in the industry. She enjoys designing everything from granny squares and blankets to garments, home décor, and seasonal projects—and she’s always working on her next WIP (or PHD—projects half done).
