Learn how to crochet the Front Post Triple Crochet Stitch (FPtr) with this step-by-step photo tutorial. The Front Post Triple Crochet Stitch is also known as Front Post Treble Crochet Stitch.
This tutorial is written using US Crochet Terminology. If you are using UK Crochet Terminology, this stitch is called a Front Post Double Treble Crochet Stitch (FPdtr).
How to Crochet the Front Post Treble Crochet Stitch
When you make a front post stitch you insert your crochet hook from the front of your work to the back of your work and back to the front of your work, around the post of the stitch.
-
Yarn over the hook 2 times. Insert the hook from the front of the stitch to the back of the stitch, to the front of the stitch around the post. Yarn over the hook.
-
Pull up 1 loop. You now have 4 loops on the hook. Yarn over the hook.
-
Pull through 2 of the loops on the hook. You now have 3 loops on the hook. Yarn over the hook.
-
Pull through 2 of the loops on the hook. You now have 2 loops on the hook. Yarn over the hook.
-
Pull through the remaining 2 loops on the hook to complete the stitch.
The front post treble crochet stitch can add texture to your crochet fabric. One crochet stitch pattern that uses the FPtr is the Double Wave Stitch.
